lyrics

The slave calls to the master. He says, “What is the matter?”
The reply: “I have no use for you, boy, anymore.
You’ve stitched my shoes, kept my commands.
I’m done with you, you working hand.
Get out! Get away from here.”

To enjoy or to deliberate?
We must ask ourselves, put off our fates.

The supply is always short when the demand is high.
To enjoy means to gain benefit,
and we always gain the most from it
when we only get to keep such small parts.

I understand marginal utilities.
I get less benefit every single time,
and the things I think I love, I always love less every day.
So, I can’t love you more than I do today.

If the frequency is low enough, you’ll have more time.
Be sure instead of stranded on an island or the interstate
‘cause you’ll be sick of her in time if you are only playing games.
You will be lost, left alone. Are you not afraid?

So, with one smooth, impassive change of state,
I’ll give up quickly all I hate.
It’s become such a large waste of time.
Once: such a charming, novel thing. Now: an apathetic duty.
Bring your heart. Leave your mind, and you’re better off.

So, I will spit the gum out of my mouth. It’s growing stale.

Nothing ever does last just as long as you would like.

I’ll spend all these hours just working to remain here,
but I’ll still feel worse every single day.

No plans, restraints, or favors owed. No idea of where to go.
No wonder no one has a thing to say. Right? No!
No, I will not abide you if you seek a “better” way.
Don’t pin your hopes on plans and goals. Find everything.

Four hundred miles of darkness. Drive!
You’re losing focus of the lines.
The night time can’t contain you if you’re wide awake,
but when you turn back up the finger of that far off,
warm, sea state, stop every hour.
Heading home is a harder way.

I can run for days without planning anything,
or I can find myself inside my childhood, hometown house.
I can fight for love without ever giving up,
but I can’t love you more than I do.
I can’t love you more than I do.
I won’t love you more than I do today.
